Hillsdale FFA Members Shine at Sub-District Public Speaking Contest

JEROMESVILLE, Ohio — Hillsdale FFA members demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills at the Sub-District Public Speaking Leadership Development Event on February 4, earning top placements and advancing to the next level of competition.

Laney Meek placed 3rd in Creed Speaking, advancing to the district contest on February 11, where she earned 4th place. In Extemporaneous Speaking, Cooper Baker placed 7th, and Eben Wilson-Mills placed 8th.

Students traveled to Firelands High School to compete in Creed Speaking and Extemporaneous Speaking events.

Creed Speaking is reserved for first-year, ninth-grade agricultural education students and requires a verbatim recitation of the FFA Creed by E.M. Tiffany, followed by a five-minute question-and-answer session. Extemporaneous Speaking challenges participants to prepare a four-to-six-minute speech in just 30 minutes based on a randomly drawn topic.
