JEROMESVILLE, Ohio — Hillsdale FFA members shared a powerful update with the Board of Education at the November meeting, highlighting a month filled with leadership development, skill-building, and meaningful service.

One of the evening’s highlights was recognizing 31 Greenhand and 31 Chapter Degree recipients. These honors mark important steps in an FFA member’s growth as they develop agricultural knowledge, leadership skills, and hands-on experience.

Members also celebrated the success of several peers who earned Blue Jacket Scholarships. Chelsea Henderson and Cooper Barnhart each received a free FFA jacket, while Laney Meek became the first student this year to recite the FFA Creed with no mistakes, earning a jacket of her own. These accomplishments reflect the commitment and pride that define Hillsdale FFA.

The chapter also hosted its annual Pie Auction, where officers donated homemade pies that helped raise $3,500 in support of senior scholarships. This fundraiser continues to play a key role in helping members pursue their futures after high school.

Both Parliamentary Procedure teams were recognized for strong performances at sub-districts. The Novice Team placed 2nd, while the Advanced Team placed 3rd, demonstrating their growing confidence in formal meeting procedures and leadership communication.

Hillsdale FFA served as host for the Job Interview CDE subdistrict competition on November 7. Several students earned top placings, including Maci Atterholt, who advanced to districts and placed 3rd overall. Laney Meek and Derek Coleman also earned 3rd and 5th at subdistricts, respectively.

Members also reflected on highlights from the National FFA Convention, especially the keynote from speaker A’ric Jackson, whose message emphasized:
• Overcoming fear to reach your potential
• Creating a “ripple effect” by empowering others through proactive leadership
• Strengthening self-awareness, confidence, and authenticity

These themes aligned closely with Hillsdale’s mission and reinforced the value of agricultural education in building character and leadership skills.

Hillsdale FFA continues to model excellence in the classroom, community, and beyond, showcasing the true spirit of the Hillsdale Difference.
