School and Community

With an enrollment of 857 students, the Hillsdale Local School District covers 98.6 square miles and covers parts of Ashland and Wayne counties. The district is comprised of two sections: PK-6 and 7-12. Hillsdale 7-12 is a four-year, comprehensive high school located in Ashland County. Enrollment (grades 9-12) is 293 students. Approximately 15% of the student body attends the Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center or the Pioneer Career and Technology Center for vocational training. 

Staff

The grades 9-12 staff includes one administrator, one counselor, and 21 teaching staff members.  71% of the staff holds a master’s degree.

Requirements for Graduation

For the current senior class, 21 credits are required for graduation including 4 credits of English, 4 credits of math, 3 credits of science, 3 credits of social studies, ½ credit of physical education, and ½ credit of health in addition to 6 elective credits (with one fine art credit required as part of the elective credits).

Grade Point Average/Class Rank

GPA and class rank are not weighted. All courses for which grades are given are used in the computation of the GPA. The cumulative GPA will be used to determine class rank. Class rank is figured by computer which is carried out 3+ decimal places which will determine the senior valedictorian and salutatorian. GPA is computed at the conclusion of each school year.

Average ACT scores for 2014-2015 (34 students tested):  19.4 (English); 20.7 (Math); 20.9 (Reading); 21.2 (Science), 20.7 (Composite). 

 Post-High School Education

For the graduating class of 2015, approximately 50% of the students had plans to move on to some form of higher education.
